Is it an owl with a dunce's cap ?

Rainforest Walk - Licuala Lodge

One of several Rainforest Walks in Mission Beach

The Licuala Lodge Rainforest Walk was completed in July 2007. The number of creatures to be found on the original walk was 24. There were numerous attempts made to spot all the creatures before the first successful expedition by a Norwegian couple, Otto and Ashild from Tromso, somewhere in the Arctic Circle. They obviously followed in the great tradition of Norwegian explorers (such as Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen). However their expedition did take place over 4 days at the end of July 2007. But despite the prolonged search, they were determined to succeed, so first place goes to them.
The first couple to complete the search in one single day were Dave and Sandra from Surbiton in the UK. Armed with a mobile phone (they took photos of all the creatures to prove that they found them all - how sad is that !!), they completed the search on 2nd August 2007 in a time of 30 minutes. Dave is ultra-competitive, and if his time is beaten I'm sure he will be devastated enough to sink a few pints in his local.

The two creatures that are the hardest to find are the Owl and the Giant Fly.

You can print your own copy of the walk by clicking here - or copies are always available at our reception desk on the breakfast verandah.

August 2007 - A Blue Fish was added to the list of creatures (courtesy of Otto and Ashild), making the total 25.
